With over 20 years of legal experience, Jennifer S. Hegemier handles appeals and writs with a wide range of civil and criminal legal issues on behalf of Appellants and Respondents in State and Federal Courts.
Jennifer started her legal career at Procopio Cory Hargreaves & Savitch LLP as part of the Real Estate Litigation Team. She later became an appellate litigator and managing partner of Niddrie & Hegemier LLP and its successor partnerships. Her judicial experience includes the position of Senior Research Attorney at the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District Division One where she worked in Chambers for Associate Justice Joan Irion, and earlier in her career, as an Extern to Associate Justice William Todd. She was an adjunct professor of legal writing at Cal Western School of Law and has organized and presented continuing education seminars through the San Diego Bar Association, Fisher & Phillips, LLP, and various other CLE providers.
Jennifer was selected as one of the Best Lawyers in San Diego in 2013 and 2014 as published in San Diego Magazine, one of San Diego's Super Lawyers in 2015, and has achieved the highest possible (“AV”) rating from Martindale-Hubbell. She served as the Programs Chair of the San Diego Bar Association's Appellate Court Committee from 2007-2010 and as Vice Chair in 2011. In addition to staying involved with ACC and other legal associations, Jennifer is active in foster rescue of Siberian Huskies for SHRRCA and Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pets.
In addition to litigating appeals and writs, Jennifer also provides consultation for trial counsel regarding post-trial motions and preservation of the record on appeal, drafting of jury instructions, analysis and evaluation of potential issues on appeal, and other assistance at any stage of litigation.
